I worked for a very wealthy family temporarily, just a two week stint but the longest two weeks of my life. The house was huge, and the children (3 and 4) had complete rule and didn't listen at all. They bit, scratched, and threw objects at me and each other. It was physically and mentally draining, never any peace.
I was told I was going to get $10 an hour, but come the end of the two weeks I get $100. Really, they told me they meant $10 a day.
I would have sued, but I was about 19 and in college and just wanted to never see that family again.
Wtf. Where do people get off thinking this is okay? $10/per day? It would have taken every ounce of my strength to get out of there without smacking whichever one of the parents had the gall to say that to my face. Do I look like an 8 year old who works for $10 and a candy bar?
