This!!! Glad you're safe!

I'm now thinking of an emergency plan! I too just go with the flow of the day. MB and I keep in contact via cell but only for major stuff (or cute pics).

I don't have an emergency plan in place with my current family. However I did have emergency plans in place with families I worked for when I lived in L.A. Wildfires were a reality where I lived and worked. With each family who lived in a potential fire zone we had an emergency plan set in place regarding what to grab, where to go, and the order I was to call people in.

Its not much of an issue in Boston if you don't speak english fluently. Their are plenty of bilingual emergency personal who speak spanish and portuguese. like myself, there are always bystanders who are bilingual that try to help.

This is a glaring example why it's

*imperative*

that parents hire nannies with solid common sense

who can speak English.

Hi everyone,
I'm a boston nanny who had a close call yesterday with my young charges at the boston marathon. We were lucky to have left the area right before the bombing which obviously frightened the parents and myself. I was wondering how many nannies have set up an emergency Evacuation plan with their families. I use a baby connect to keep the parents updated and will give a heads up if we go somewhere new but normally i plan my day as it goes. Since I have the full trust of my employers, I've never really questioned whether I should tell them in advance but after yesterday and struggling to get cell service I feel i need to change how i go about things. I work with infants and if something should happen to me, how would their parents locate them? I've mentioned sewing tags to their jackets and diaper bag with parents infor but I feel like there should be a better alternative. We agreed If an event should happen that causes the city to be under lockdown, I'm to take them to my house or my family members house if I can't get them home. If my home isn't safe then ill wait with them at children's hospital until the parents can get to us.

What do you do?
