I think your offering rate is very fair.

You will probably get a decent nanny for that price.

What you are proposing sounds more than fair. Honestly, I would do it for $10-$12/hr given the hours are a good amount (10-11 per night).

I mean essentially you're just hiring someone to work overnights. Some one who is seeking this arrangement would likely spend a lot of their daytime hours in their own home and likely wouldn't mind staying over five days a week. I think it's similar to nurses working overnights in hospitals IMO. What you're paying also sounds fair since most of her time will be free or used for sleeping on her own. But how often do your 3 y/o's really wake up at night? I feel like this should really only very rarely happen.

OP, I think your offer is fair and enticing.

Do you have an extra bedroom for a night nanny?
Is the day nanny live in or out?

*I pay my nanny $150 extra a night (not $100), off the books.

I live in NYC, and I have a fantastic nanny who works from 7am-8pm She has been with us for just over a year. With my fairly new job, I have to spend many nights out entertaining clients until late evening, around midnight sometimes later. My nanny has been a great sport and has stayed overnight on these nights. I pay her $100 extra when she does. But, many times I need her to stay late is usually on short notice. She is so super tired, and I want to keep her happy, so I don't want her to do overnights anymore. And I'm tired, so I can't be woken up at night by my 3 year old twins.

I don't want a 24hr nanny, because that seems like abusive and cruel, and I want to keep my current nanny. So I want to hire someone to just spend the nights from 8pm-7am M-F. Basically monitor watch (sleeping of course) and get up on the occasion my LO's wake up. I know paying a person to come in will cost more than $150 a night. What do you think is fair? I pay my nanny $25 an hour + overtime on the books. But I think that is too much for just sleeping. I was thinking around $950 a week. This works out to $15 an hour + overtime. I do most of the time come home early to play then to put my kids to sleep, then head out, so the night nanny could just hang out. I will also provide breakfast and dinner for night nanny.

Do you think this would entice someone enough to sleep away from their home during the week? And to those who want to yell at me for having kids, keep in mind I am a widower of 2 years. And I DO see my kids plenty! I am there every breakfast, and I take them to school. I pick them up from school most days, and spend an hour or so with them before nap time. I have no other family in or around the city to help me.
