Why are you all so quick to be such assholes and call troll? MB scarfed down three pieces of cake. I've seen her eat 6 cupcakes in one sitting, so this wasn't a surprise.

I won't be an unemployed fool. Just a well qualified nanny that is tired of the constant drama that spills over to my days off on a regular basis. I'd love any of you who are so judgemental to try and come work this job for 10 days, much less 10 months. There are 4 nannies here and I have been here the longest.

I'm done. I've saved money so can go without a job for several months if I need to.

I don't agree with how your MB reacted but I think you would just be hurting yourself by quitting early, especially without having another position lined up. Apologize for having the celebration during work hours without asking for permission and then get through the six weeks. You'll be glad you did when interviewing for your next jobs.

I know this is an unbelieveable story, but unfortunately it is true. This is a crazy household!

This has nothing to do with sugar because these kids eat crap all the time and we've never been told to limit their sugar intake.

Also, we live in while working, so would any of you say a live in nanny shouldn't be able to celebrate their birthday? Or that the person who pays us (dad) isn't allowed to do something for the nannies?

I wasn't expecting MB to do anything for my birthday. My co-nanny worked on Christmas Day and did not even get a Merry Christmas, so she is a real joy to work for. It certainly is her right to not do anything, but it is also dad's right to do what he did (he gave us Christmas bonuses too). I understand that divorce is complicated but from what I can gather from other staff dad has always been the nicer and more thoughtful one.

I was trying to stick it out another 6 weeks until my year anniversary because our nanny agent has a year replacement guarantee but this is the last straw for me. I have been interviewing but am prepared to leave without a new position at this point.

Your mb sounds demented. Wouldn't want to work for a witch like her.

I think thats crazy! TBH I wouldn't want to work for a boss who freaked out over cake (unless she had explicitly told you previously no cake/sugar for the kids) because if she freaks out over cake what other little things (and bigger things) will she explode at? Also you are on 24 hours so its not like you can just celebrate after work!

Sit down and carefully asses your job. If you love the job ask the agency how the mB wants you to try and fix the situation. If you don't live it ask the DB for a reference and find a new job

The situation is absurd and ridiculous and you know that.

MB was probably mostly pissed that DB made her look bad.

If you love your job generally I'd suck it up, apologize that it offended her and make peace. Divorce can bring out a lot of ugly.

If this happens a lot, I'd make peace, find a new job and move on.

PP this has very little to do with OP expecting MB to say happy birthday. -- Also, she didn't bring the cake, a co-worker (other nanny) did.

This is weird, but I would have asked if I can bring cake to have a birthday celebration at my MB's house.

That being said, I wouldn't *expect* my MB to do anything for my birthday. Sure, it's nice to be thought of but for goodness sake im not going to act like she's supposed to.

This can't be real. I never call out posts for being fake but this is just bizarre.

So I work in a team of nannies to care fore 3 children, working daily with another full time nanny who is a good friend of mine. We work 24 hour shifts. The parents are going through a divorce and we work primarily at mom's house, but dad is the one who pays us. We do have regular contact with dad as he drives the children to school regularly and we go here every Thursday for dinner.

Last Thursday was my birthday. Both myself and my co-nanny let mom boss know it was my birthday on more than one occasion leading up to the day. Thursday morning comes and MB doesn't even wish me a happy birthday. She then leaves in the afternoon and isn't expected back until after 8 PM. After school my co-nanny brings home a little birthday cake and balloons for me. She gathers the children together, has them sing happy birthday and we all have a very small piece of cake. We then cleaned up and put things away.

We then go over to dad's house for dinner where there are lots of balloons, another birthday cake and a very nice card and gift from Dad.

Later on that evening MB returns home and our charges tell her about having birthday cake. She proceeds to FLIP OUT on all of us. She grills the children and my co-nanny about where the cake and balloons came from. She then insists that we get the cake from our house back out and goes on to eat 3 pieces!

Friday morning comes and she's still pissed. She grilled my co-nanny again about the cake and accuses her of hiding my birthday on purpose. My co nanny finally had enough and basically tells her to screw off. Thank goodness we were off at 8 am Friday morning so we get through the rest of the morning.

Later on that morning my co nanny and I both get a call from our nanny agent. MB called her and basically is considering firing both of us. We both got reprimanded and told we are no longer allowed to have celebrations in her house without prior permission.

What do you all think? I just think this whole thing is ridiculous and we didn't do anything wrong.
