My AP is doing a wonderful job in working with my 2yo DC on both formal and informal education. Currently they are developing a letter book - using old magazines to cut out upper and lower case letters and pictures starting with that letter then pasting them into a notebook with one page dedicated to a letter. She is teaching her Spanish, so this really helps to explore the language.

We also have two workbooks that they use every once in a while Brain Quest and Science is Fun, which we got off amazon. These are also good places to just to get ideas for fun games or working educational things into games. For example sorting - you could use building blocks and building a structure only using red blocks (they chose the red ones out of the pile) or try to do patterns - red block, blue block, green block, red block.... These books just gave us great ideas that we could work into DD's play. Of course, lot of reading, coloring, working on tracing, walks outside.

Another activity we are doing now for "science" is growing bulbs in rocks in a clear vase so DD sees the roots grow, measures the height of the stems each day, sees the leafs and stem grow and, finally, yesterday we got some flowers. We will be doing seeds in cups and a butterfly kit when the weather gets warmer.

For physical stuff, I just look to see what she should be doing - jumping off two feet, skipping, etc, and do it with her while playing outside. We also dance a few times a week. At the music class DD loves throwing scarves into the air and dancing with them

OP Here: I have been doing my own research but figured that I would also post on here to see what other nannies or MBs could suggest. It's helpful to hear what others have done and what has or hasn't worked for them. I thought that was the point of the forum. Thanks for being ever so helpful.

I have been working full-time for a family for about 3 months now, caring for an adorable boy who just celebrated his 2nd birthday. I have always tried to educate the kids I care for, but normally in an informal way (point things out and have a conversation with about it with the child). However, I (and the parents) would like to start introducing a bit more formal education into his daily routine. Obviously nothing that he wouldn't be ready for, the parent's aren't the type to be over hyper about it. So what I'm wondering is, what exactly should our goals be? And is there some book, or website that can outline these "milestones"? So far we have been working on colors, using colored bean bags and sorting colored "pom pom balls" into matching colored tubes. Any advice on what else I could be working on would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
