Are you sure they're not some fly-by-night phony outfit? So many people want to make a fast buck in this lucrative nanny business. Most of them have no clue what it takes.

Haha, forgot it still isn't public. It was about to be when they demanded that I upload a VIDEO of myself as well. They did do a free video shoot day here in SF, where you could show up between certain hours at one of the colleges and they would shoot it for you so that it looked more professional.

Sorry for the multiple posts, but I don't think that parents see anything about your FB account. It just takes your real name information, and can "grab" your profile pic to use on their site. Otherwise, when I looked at my account, it was everything that I went and filled in myself with no link to my FB account visible.

I also forgot I was forced to write this huge "about me" thing on their site (mandatory) before profile would go public.

They are very controlling of what they want you to have for parents to view, even if you would rather not upload pics of yourself etc. It took several days for me to get the thing to go public and 2 weeks later I got the notice about direct deposit needing to be done or else I would lose my free membership in the future (I think it was near the end of this month).

People can leave recommendations WITHOUT being a member on the site (and I don't think they need to have a FB account either, but I could be wrong). They told me that they used FB to sign in since FB is supposed to be people using Real Names and that was the easiest way for them to deal with trying to get people to use real names on their site.

I dislike it. I signed up and was upset that I had to sign in with FB. I also use a different name on FB than my legal name (it is a nickname I have had for many years) and had to contact Urban sitter to have them change info on my profile to show my real name. Then they hound you to upload a pic before your profile goes public. THEN, as soon as I did that, they announced a paid membership and that you would have until x date to add a bank account for direct deposit option OR ELSE you would not be able to keep your free membership, you would have to get a paid one. Too much BS.

If they didn't force you to add bank info for a free account I would have tried it out for a bit. I don't want to be paid by credit/debit card ever, and I don't just hand this info over to anyone that demands it for a free account. Being forced to sign in with FB was just the start of it.

I'm not sure about UrbanSitter but have heard MANY complaints about Care.com.

Yeah, I don't want to have to think about families I work for seeing my FB. Pass.

You have to sign in using facebook. So I think it's a facebook app, and you can post things to your wall through the app. It says their reasoning for requiring sign in through facebook is so that friends can recommend jobs and parents you've worked for can leave recommendations.

Just saw an ad for Urbansitter, has anybody used this? It looks like it has to connect to facebook which I don't like (I try to keep nannying/babysitting and facebook VERY separate), but it does sound like it could be a good way to get new babysitting gigs, which I could use right now.
