Luckily, this doesn't happen often.

Nannies have no problem with diapering a baby. But touching the parents' PRIVATE belongings, absolutely not.

OMG, they're just clothes! It's usually not stuff that has poop all over it or anything like that. Do you freak out at having to touch your own underwear when taking it off and putting it into the laundry? If you do the kids laundry then you are probably touching stuff MUCH worse. You don't even need to touch underwear all over, just use 2 fingers on an upper edge, or grab it while holding other clothes around it. Or use freaking gloves.

Not ever single person does their own laundry, so there are always other people touching someone else's clothes. To say that no self-respecting person would actually do that is crazy. If you pay me $25/hr to be the housekeeper, you can bet I will have no problem doing your laundry as well.

Housekeepers are self-respecting people, as are the nurses who change people's bed pans. It's a job.

If DB's laundered underwear is still skid-marked, it's time to throw them out and start over with new ones and a different laundry technique.

I do towels, dishrags, and the guest room sheets when houseguests leave (I've never been asked to) but I don't think MB would appreciate me going into her hamper unasked! I finish/fold her clothes if they're left mid-cycle though - again, unasked.

our nanny does sheets and all laundry (at her insistence, not our request). even though i did not ask for it and remind her it's not required occassionally, it is a GODSEND and one of the reasons we are continually reminded she is working hard to help us out and make things in our family run smoother - so helping add to the arguments in favor of keeping her vs. going preschool now that we are past the baby stage.

I don't mind moving their laundry from the washer to dryer or from the dryer into a basket in their room, but I don't touch the dirty laundry. Sorry, too weird.

I fold clean laundry, including parents' undies, but I don't start it in the washer. Gross.

Nope. I have no problem helping out around the house but I draw a line at having anything to do with my bosses' underthings.

I have done so in a couple of positions. In one position I was a live-in who worked one weekend day (Sunday) as part of my schedule, and on that day MB and I usually teamed up to do the laundry. She washed and folded my underwear just as often as I washed and folded hers and DB's. I'd much rather wash and fold an employer's underwear than find used condoms in the sheets.

DB's skid marked underwear? I wonder if MB has any idea, or she's too busy to notice....

I do the family laundry but the cleaners do all the linens. I actually don't mind it as it's generally the quietest moment of my work day. MB has made it abundantly clear that it's strictly a "if you have time" task but I make time for it most days because i know it helps her out. However, folding DB's skid marked underwear is the WORST!

I'm really glad I don't work for the kind of people who would leave used condoms in their sheets. Who does that? Disgusting!

I personally can't believe that any self-respecting woman would even ask a nanny to do that.
I remember a certain family who also had a FT housekeeper. Every week she'd tell me how many used condoms she had to pick out of the dirty sheets. Obviously TMI.
