What is your normal rate with this family?

Also, don't let them guilt you into thinking that paying for your flight, meals, hotel room, etc.. is a perk and should make you take less money. Someone has to go with the girl, so they have to pay for all of these things for at least one other person. Not like they are bringing you along in addition to them.

That's crazy, OP. Let them try to find someone else to do it. Say you have other things to you. You can even call an agency and see how much this would cost them. Don't let them take advantage of you like that.

That is crazy! I got $250 for doing a full 24 hours with a child while the mom was out of town at a funeral! We stayed home and he watched tv and played video games for a good portion of the time (mom said that was ok). $200/day for what you are being asked is more like it, but could still be low depending on what your rate is and how many hours she is sleeping for.

I agree with 21:18, OP.

sorry, forgot to add "and if you wanted to take a discount".

I guess the real question is what would you normally make for those 2 weekdays at home with the kids? If they aren't paying you your normal pay plus a bit extra for that amount of time (for the overnights) x2 (since you are doing 2 extra days and they are your weekend, which means you are LOSING your only days off), then what incentive is there for you to go and do it? No one wants to do something like that and LOSE money and their weekend.

$400 would be an incredible bargain, OP. Hope it's someplace nice where you want to go. Make should they give you plenty of cash or credit card, for all your meals, and whatever else you may need (like hotel tips, cab fare, etc).

Definitely reasonable.

I wouldn't mind going, and I think 400 would be a fair price to ask, but wanted to make sure I'm not being unreasonable

Do you WANT to go? What figure would make you want to do it? They made an offer- come back with a counter offer, and see what they say. It will be either yes or no.

The PP quote of regular rate for waking hours + $50 overnight works out to $1080 for 15 hrs per day x 4 days, plus $150 for three overnights. If it would take this much to persuade you to go, one of the parents will probably just go themselves.

If you don't go, can one of the parents be responsible for taking the trip?

Wow. You really think you know how to get over on nannies. Or maybe you can explain your seemingly wild advice? Let's imagine the nanny earns 18/hr....

I'm a college student who's been a live out nanny for a family for almost a year. The family asked me to take their daughter, who's 13, to her cheer competition in another state. The competition is Friday-Monday, and I'm responsible for flying out with her, going with her to the competition, awards ceremonies etc. my flight and food are paid for, and I'm sharing a hotel room with the girl. My question is how much should I get paid for doing this? It's definitely not a vacation and I don't have any free time.
