I would never say this in person, or with my name attached, but I agree that it's a new money issue. My impression is that the new money tends to put on airs and they try to act the way they think wealthy people do, but they almost always get it horribly wrong. The mom should have just STOPPED TALKING after asking you to make sure her son always says please and thank you. As a teenager, I dumped a boy because when I was at his house, he told the housekeeper, "Go make me a sandwich."

Because she referred to you as "the help"? Sorry, but you are a nanny. You *are* the help. You seem to have some issues with your title. That's fine. Don't like it? Go get an education.

My lawyer, my plumber and my doctor are all my *help*, as is my nanny. They all work for me, as long as they keep doing a good job. If they don't, I fire them, and get a better replacement.

Lol you are such a pretentious asshole. Your doctor and lawyer work WITH you, not for you. And their employment has nothing to do with your business. They do not service you exclusively. Maybe some of the MBs on this board need to "go get an education."

I'm sorry but what does that have to do with anything? And your lawyer helps you but is not *your help*. If they tire of having you as a client, they can leave you and be just as financially successful.

How about you go and get an education because you very clearly do not know how to put together a proper sentence.

Whoa...who the hell are you talking to like that? Alert the media, many PROFESSIONAL nannies do have college degrees. You are an asshole.

Can you not read? It's because she wants her son to talk differently to the help than to family. There shouldn't be a difference with manners, you always use them!

MB here who would never say that to her nanny. You should reconsider your other options. The DS should say please and thank you to EVERYONE. When my DS was younger, he said something rude to my housekeeper. She told me about it and I insisted he apologize to her and not repeat his rudeness.

^^ I agree with that quote wholeheartedly. She had a weird "sorry but I have to say these things" kind of look on her face too. Oh well. Ill find a new job.

Wow. Assuming this post is true, your MB is one classless individual. And there is no way I would want to work for someone like that.

Julian Fellowes once said that one of the worst things you could say about someone was that he was rude to servants.

Started working for a family 3 days ago. Today MB told me to make sure her 3 year old DS always says please and thank you "because she doesn't want him to think its okay to talk to his parents the same way he talks to the help." I was visibly appalled. Should I reconsider my other options? I nothing else, this is just plain rude.
