But 15 is probably more typical- maybe even less for Kensington, Silver Spring. And while some great nannies may command these salaries, don't assume that a nanny demanding a very high pay is going to be the best. Trust me, I have had some expensive nannies that have not been top notch. This "You get what you pay for" mentality has not been the experience for myself or my friends. Those nannies have for the most part been entitled and not great. Some of the lower paid nannies have worked harder to earn their raises and been more humble. And I have always hired legally and taken out taxes.
However, for an American born college educated nanny (former teacher for example), then you might be looking at 18+.
I'm 13:10 who said $17-18/hr, and that describes me perfectly.
OP, as the PP has indicated there are a lot of factors that can change the cost of a nanny - and more expensive does not always equal the best (although I would contend that the cheapest DOES equal the worst) care. Only you can decide what qualities are important to you in a nanny, and if you share those we'll be better able to recommend anticipated costs. Otherwise I think you have a sensible range shared here - best of luck!
