You could find someone around $20-22 an hour as long as you offer great benefits. Paid vacation, sick, and holidays. Maybe offer to contribute towards her health insurance. You don't need to start out by paying $25 an hour unless you want the best of the best (and you will most likely only find a nanny of that caliber through an agency).

There are nannies who make this and much more sorry to tell you. Especially considering that most of us work closer to 50 hour weeks than the standard 40. I do wonder, however, how you afford a nanny.

It is a lot of money. It is not "troll" territory or unheard of either, though.

I make 49K a year now including my hourly rate plus overtime, as a nanny of one, which is quite good pay. A little more for a toddler and twin infants seems reasonable to me. OP can, as I said, probably find someone who'd accept less, but I would not.

I'd say $20-$22/hr, but agree that you need to be sure this person is experienced and has plenty of energy!

I make $20 for one, and wouldn't accept that job for less than $25 (plus a strong benefits package).

You might find someone great who'd be looking in the $20-22 range, but I agree with PP not to settle for a cheap option - you DEFINITELY want a seasoned professional who can handle the stress of juggling so many different needs.

13:07, you sure are vocal proponent of nickel and diming the nanny. Not wise when it comes to your children. If you can't afford good care, that's another matter.

Leaving room for raises, and taking OT into consideration, you might be able to find someone for $20-22. I'm not sure how saturated the nanny market is right now. Early Fall could be very good -- maybe some nannies are looking for work because their charges are in school.
But this is definitely not a situation where you want to get the cheapest possible (ie if you find someone who says they'll accept $15/hr....run!)

Are there any sort of mothers-day-out programs that your 2 year old could attend? So the nanny could focus on the twins for a few hours a couple of days per week?

We are considering hiring a nanny for 3 children starting early fall. It would be for 4 month old twins and a 2 year old. We would be looking for a live out nanny in Falls Church for about 45 hours a week. I'm wondering what kind of pay we should expect because I'm sure with multiples and a toddler we can expect to pay more than usual. Any suggestions or experiences would be much appreciated.
