Wrong. I posted a similar post a while back, got very little support, and called all kinds of entitled and inflexible. I think you should synchronize your clocks OP and be sure that if you are going to hold her to on the dot punctuality, be prepared to hold yourself to the same standard.

Agree you should ask to synchronize your watches/clocks before making a fuss - but do let her know that you need to be able to walk out the door at (whatevertime) and make sure she feels that's reasonable.

For example, I arrive usually 20 minutes early (because I hate looking for parking when I'm in a rush) but would consider walking in the door at 8am to be "on time" - my MB doesn't leave until 15 minutes after my start time (sometimes 30) so we have a cushion built in for delays and slow starts.

Agreed. I would only bring it up if it is affecting your ability to get to work on time. And if 3 minutes is affecting your ability to get to work on time, then I'd suggest a formal shift in working hours. ie 7:45-5:45 if she currently works 8-6.

Seriously. There are clocks in my house off by more than that.

They are usually home on time and if they are going to be a few minutes late they send a text. The only times I've had to stay 15 minutes late was when someone else was coming there to relieve me. My bosses believe I shouldn't work more than my usual hours so that I don't get run into the ground. I greatly appreciate that.

I would let it slide. Three minutes is nothing. If she arrived on time, it would still be a few minutes for her to get her shoes off, wash hands, etc, so you still could not leave right away. If you want to leave earlier, ask her to start 15 minutes earlier, and since you let her go early each day, it should be a fair trade off. However, I'd be insulted if someone called me out for 3 minutes.

OP, Please let us know how it goes next week after you speak with her.

Let your nanny know in a firm but gentle manner. Your request that she be exactly on times, especially when you let her go before she is scheduled is perfectly reasonable.

If I start at 8, I'll arrive between 7:50 & 7:55. I tell them that before I begin the job. You should share your frustration with the nanny and see if she can be on time.

Our nanny arrives three minutes late every day and I find it annoying. I know it sounds petty, but by the time she takes off her shoes and coat and washes her hands and gets to the baby, it's four more minutes, and it really bothers me. It's every day. She's paid through 6pm every day but I arrive home at about 510 and let her go by 520 at the absolute latest (I like to hear about her day with my baby, and always make sure it's done "on the clock" so she's getting paid). This is making me resentful. I'd like to hear from others about what they think. I feel like it shows disinterest in the job/lack of effort that she's late by a few minutes every day.
