They are not required to, but many agree to witholding. OP, you should ask them to do this - the worst they can say is no.

They (or you) should go to irs.gov and download the instructions for household employees. They also need to look up their state's laws regarding unemployment insurance. Workers Comp is probably also required, though some people don't bother with it.

I currently am paid under the table for my nanny position but would like to switch to paying taxes. The family agreed during a quick conversation, but now I need to have a sit down formal meeting with them.
What things do I need to give them on my end?
As the employers, what do they need to do to start the w2 process?
