Try some fat markers or toddler crayons- your charge should atleast be able to get a few lines down.

I think maybe most of us aren't able to advise because we follow the no screen time under 2 guidelines. If your family doesn't, that's up to them, but I'm only acquainted with apps/games for older kids - sorry I can't help.

That's good. Thank you. But it's not exactly what most parents hire a pricey nanny to do.

" The AAP realizes that media exposure is a reality for many families in today’s society. If parents choose to engage their young children with electronic media, they should have concrete strategies to manage it. Ideally, parents should review the content of what their child is watching and watch the program with their child."

I've been to the pediatrician actually and they have never said anything about screen time. What now, DCUM police?

The studies are recent. And they all confirm the same thing. That's why it's finally official. I thought any professional nanny knew that. But like I said, see what the pediatrician has to say. What's to fear?

I'm sorry, but they need to do new studies. I work with a family and the younger DD is 2.5 yrs old and has been getting screen time since she was born, due to her brother being 5 yrs older. She didn't really pay much attention to it when younger, but once she was 18 months she would. She is very bright and is much further ahead in development than other kids her age, with almost everything.

Also, if the parents want the child to have up to 30 minutes screen time, then that is up to them. I am sure OP would cut it out if parents didn't want it. I also agree with her that sometimes apps will help a child more than something simple and basic like flashcards. They are interactive and the app can be more complex than cards or a physical game can be.

Ask his pediatrition. No screen time for babies under two. It's damaging to his brain development. Sorry, but I can't believe parents who actually pay good money for that kind of "care".

My charge is 20 months old and loves to use MB/DB iPad. He is allowed around 30 minutes of screen time, including television shows like Sesame Street. We currently let him play Starfall ABC's, MusicSparkle, ABC Touch, Little Speller Little Words, and First Words. Wondering if any Mom's or Nannies have other educational apps to suggest we try. FWIW, he's thriving so much more verbally with the ABC apps versus the flash cards we were previously using. Thanks!
