Why are you saying the children are from hell, when they are being neglected by their parents? These children are innocent victims. And you are cruel and doing part of the abusing by coming on here telling the "world" that you chat on the phone, ignoring the 5 month old screaming for her life, when the parents are drunk and neglectful!!!!

If you are witness to such abuse, why are you not calling the police or CPS? Are you afraid that you will be accused of the neglect as well? Well you should be!

OP, that's not how to use quotation marks. If the "reading" you're referring to was online message boards I can understand your confusion, but I am certain you have never seen them used that way in any newspaper, magazine, or book.

OP, in defense of a couple of the PPs, your original post didn't lend much detail as to why you're so frustrated with the children's behavior and why you feel the parents lack proper "parental skills."

It's a thing I like to call "context clues." Apparently you don't have such basic skills to even apply simple common sense to figure out why quotation marks are even being used. I think you need to go back to elementary school hun.

Um, if you haven't ever seen quotation marks for emphasis before then you apparently don't get to reading much. Yes, I understand that I use them a lot, but I have seen others who use them for emphasis as well. Anyways, that's a silly thing to even bring up on your part. Who cares about quotation marks? I have been with many "loud" babies, that doesn't bother me in the least. I'm pretty sure that most babies are "loud." See that's the thing though, I don't need people here assuming that the baby is just "loud" when most babies are loud by nature at 5 months. That's the thing, this is far more than being "loud."

I'm going to call troll on this. Any decent nanny especially one who has cared for at least 30 kids would know that some babies just cry more than others. You sound ridiculous.

I'm very curious why you are blaming the parents for the 5 month old crying all the time. Is she simply on an inappropriate sleep schedule and overtired? Or do the parents not appropriately attend to the child's other needs for food, love, and stimulation? In that case you can definitely make a suggestion about a change in a gentle way. Do you blame their parenting because you think she has reflux, MSPI, or some other issue and they have not taken care of it? Or do you really think a fussy 5 month old needs some sort of discipline? What would that be? My infant has a very loud cry when she's upset and that's just her lungs/voice box.

Also what are you intending your use of quotation marks to say? Is it the written form of air quotes? Emphasis? Both?

How can you complain about the behavior of a 5 Month & 2 year old!?! They are still babies! What are you expecting, for the parents to put the 5 month in time out? You are wicked!

Are you a live-in? Were the parents on duty when the baby was crying like that?

I have nannied goodness knows how many children (at least 30), and I have to say for the first time that I really and truly believe these parents I currently work for have no idea "what-so-ever" how to parent their children.

The difficult part is that I know that because they're my employers, that I have to respect their "parenting skills" and "rules" for their kids.

It truly is "shocking" to me that anyone could have such little knowledge and common sense on caring for their own children.

I have "always" strongly believed that with patience, positivity, and care that "all" children (even the most unruly ones) will behave better in time. This has "always" worked for me. Except with these current kids... They are litterally every nannies nightmare!

I have had what many people would consider "problem" children before, however I have always learned how to help and handle these types of children (case by case) to where they behave appropriately in short amounts of time. However, these kids are seemingly hopeless, and I absolutely HATE to say (let alone think) that!

Their current ages are 5 months and 2 years old. I swear, I was on the phone with a friend (while I was off duty) who has had multiple children, and while we were on the phone the baby was crying in the background.
She was just like, what the HECK is that terrible noise in the background?
I was like what, you mean the baby crying?
She was like, there's absolutely no way that horrible sound is a baby! Seriously, what is that?
Um, I told you already that's the baby crying.
She goes on to say, NEVER in all my years have I EVER heard ANY baby cry like that!
I'm like yeah, and that's not even the worst of it. That's "mild" crying for her! Not to mention she is ALWAYS crying.
She's like, Oh my god I'm so sorry for you!
Yeah, seriuosly the baby sounds like she's being mauled by a bear every time she crys!

Not to mention the 2 year old must be the most unruly, selfish, spoiled, and annoying child on the face of the earth who complains about EVERYTHING.

This experience has been so horrible that in complete fear that any baby and 2 year old will ever be like this again, I have pretty much promised myself that I will never nanny another child 2 and under again...

Gosh, if only these children were like the 2 next door (who are the exact same age as the ones I watch). I commonly refer to them as "the angels" (although they're pretty much just your regular behaved children) because there is NO comparison to them with these ones...
