See, I took her saying that as meaning she did not have her DL (see later in OPs post where it says "finding well paying jobs even though they don't drive") . Seems like she might not have ever had one, but sometimes when people move to a new state, they want you to get a new one for your current state instead of previous state DL (each state is different with how much time they allow you to use your old DL before you need to get a new one). Most agencies want you to have one since most families they are helping require one. Now the only problem I see with never having had one before is that quite a few parents don't want a new driver driving their kids around, but want someone that has a few years of driving with a clear record.

I think she has a point. If someone contacted me about watching my kids and their email had misspellings or grammar mistakes, I wouldn't respond. It feels disrespectful and sloppy. Not a good first impression.[/quote]

Again I'm typing this on my phone on a anonymous forum. I didn't realize people on here are spell checking and proof reading my stuff all because I ask a question of course I would spell check and proof read my ad before it was put up. All parents who have responded to my ads have more than likely ended up hiring me or the spot. When I asked my current employer why she chose me (out of 10 other applicants) she said it was because when she read my ad she was impressed with my three paragraph description on my experience, work history, college courses, what I do with children and etc.

Get someone to help you with editing your applications for grammar, spelling, and word choice. Based on how you have typed out this question, I wouldn't hire you to watch my children. Personally, I would want someone who seems to have a very good grasp on the English language, comes across as intelligent, and also professional.

Try Care.com and Sittercity.com. There are a lot of low-paying positions listed there but if you weed through the bad ones there are good positions as well. You can try an agency but with no license, they may not accept you.
