I've had families never write one and families write one after the second day. I've never asked for one, but I'd just let them know you're looking rock up some evening and weekend work and would they be willing to be a reference for you. You can ask at that time if they are quilling to post a reference on care.com too. I hate that care.com allows parents to review nannies but not the other way around.

6 months. But I'd also suggest you let them know you'd like more hours (unless you don't like the kids) so are going to pursue some evening babysitting.

Why don't you ask some of your previous employers to write some reviews? How long have you been working for your new family? I wouldn't expect them to write anything within the first few months as they are still getting to know you and how you are on the job (late often, take many days off, try and search out new and fun things for the kids to do or stick to the simple and easy stuff).
