?? I'm the OP and have no idea what you're talking about and resent the implication that we're avoiding taxes. He lives in DC full time and this has nothing to do with taxes.

BTW I did more research and it turns out there's no way for us to get an au pair due to my husband not being a green card holder or citizen. Oh we'll, seems ridiculous to me.

OP, I have no idea, but I have to agree that seems wildly unfair. I hope you can find another contact who'll allow you to apply as the host parent and only submit your husband for background checks etc.

I just spoke with a woman from APIA who told me that the State Department requires that host parents be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. I'm a citizen but my husband is not (he has a different visa from working at an international organization here in DC). Has anyone had this issue? Any chance we could get accepted into the program by signing me up as a host mom the way a single mom would do? Of course he would get the required background checks etc. It just seems unfair. He's here perfectly legally. Thanks.
