Are your employers taking the kids with them or are you off (with pay) next week? If you are off, they should pay you this Friday since you won't be there to receive a check. If you are working, they could have leave a check with whomever is with the kids during your non-work hours to give you on payday. If you are watching the kids around the clock until they get back, they should trust you enough to either pay you in full Friday or leave a post-dated check for you.

If you're being paid by direct deposit they can manage that as the previous poster says. If you're being paid by manual check then ask for a postdated check (and don't deposit it until the actual payday.

It is their obligation to pay you when the payment is due, but it isn't their obligation to do so beforehand. Advancing salary money is never a good idea for an employer and rarely in the best long-term interests of an employee.

If they will be gone on your usual pay day, they should expect to pay you before they leave. If they say they can't or aren't comfortable with it, ask for a post dated check. It's not fair for them to expect you to wait until they return.

Of course let them know your needs. I am always paid in advance. Works well for me.

Do you do direct deposit? This solves it but it takes a week or so to set up. You could ask then to give you the check for the pay date when they will be away but postdate so you can't cash it until the normal payday.
