Thank goodness for schedules.

I'm going to talk to them tonight. I guess I'm just "kid" tired by the time I'm done with work. I don't mind seeing friends with kids or hitting the gym or whatever - it's the extra few hours I'm still on duty. It's just mentally draining.

I wouldn't give a months notice...one week max. The parents are there, just being lazy. Just tell then it didn't with with your schedule, and if true that you would be happy to help with the occasional Saturday night or whatever but you're no longer available for the weekly thing. Good luck.

OP, do NOT tell them why. When telling someone you can't do something for them, you never ever tell them why because if you do, they will start workshopping to eliminate that reason. If you MUST, just a very vague "this no longer works with my current schedule" but do NOT get into details.

Can you just tell them that you are too tired with your full time job and that for one night a week it's not worth it for you to have another job? I would approach the PT family by saying that your FT position is now more demanding and tiring and it's just not going to work out anymore. If I were you, I'd offer to stay for another 2-3 weeks since its only one night a week to help them find another nanny for their family. Good luck.

Back Story:
I was this familys summer nanny, mom had a very short maternity leave and the babys daycare spot wasn't available yet. So I had the baby for about 4 months. Once in daycare they asked if I could watch him certain nights, pick him up from daycare feed him, bath him and put him to bed. It was 2 to 3 nights a week. Now it's just one night a week.
I work 5 days a week with triplets that are now getting older (7 months old).
Most days when I pick up baby the dad is home getting home early.

So I want to tell them I can't do the one night a week anymore. Really after 10 hours with triplets I'm so tired. I don't want to deal with anymore kids. This baby is horrible to put to bed and you have to hold him (he's now 11.5 months).

Now like I said most days dad is there when I pick up baby - he just didn't want to pick up the kid. Or both parents are there and they take an hour to decide they don't want to go out! Last time I picked up baby the mom asked if I could pick him up later o, right at closing (6:30pm). She knows I get off work at 5 & my FT job is right around the corner from the daycare. I'm not going to drI've around for an hour.


I just want to tell them I'm not available anymore.
