So her employers were looking through her private texts?

She actually couldn't find a job for a year. Turns out employers aren't as interested in an unemployed nanny who is asking for more than the market rate.

Never been fired - although I'm about to quit my PT position - but I love this topic, OP, and hope more people will share their stories!

If you've been around here a while, you'd already know, that nannies need to scrub the toilets when junior is napping, no?
...Unless you're one of those nasty entitled nannies that we love to hate so much.

What's your point? Her charge could be taking a nap! You must be bored too, if you come on this board to dig at someone else or insecure.

I fired my nanny after I found out that she was interviewing for jobs with strangers while taking my kids along. She had been hinting around for weeks that she needed more money since her MIL no longer took care of her daughter and she had to put her in daycare.

A friend of mine was fired for trying to get her old job back that she left for the new one. She was poached and was bribed with better and newer perks and although she was good with her previous job, she ha the 'grass is always greener on the other side' mentality. I was kind of fired from a position. I worked for a family for about a year and was unhappy with my job. I brought up things that I was unhappy about and they were unwilling to make any changes. I secretly started looking for a new job. I knew that if I had let MB know as soon as I started looking for a job she would have gone crazy on me and let me go right then and there. I was planning on giving 2 weeks notice but only after I found another position.

Well, MB somehow found out that I was looking for another job (maybe she saw that my sittercity.com profile was updated?) and she started secretly looking for a new nanny. Well, they found a new nanny before I found a new job. She came home from work one night and told me that that was my last day and that I should collect my things. I should mention that she told me she had no intentions of finding a new nanny until she found out I was looking for a new position.
