Doing a separate check means nanny doesn't have to pay SS/Med/FIT/SIT on that money, and that employers don't have to pay THEIR share of taxes on the money either.

Most professional nannies commonly expect health insurance as part of their compensation package. If she already has coverage under her husband's policy, you can offer a comparable, but different, benefit.

I am a nanny - I receive a separate check as my stipend for health insurance. FWIW, I receive $150 a month for health insurance and my policy is $220 a month, so I do pay for some of it, but I certainly appreciate the perk regardless!

Health insurance payments to nanny, should be made with a separate check. Indicate in the memo line that it is for health insurance coverage. You can confirm this with your CPA.
