Um, get over yourself lady. There is nothing the OP stated that makes one think OP sees the children as an 'accessory'. I have gone with my family on vacation several times and I completely get why - they want to obviously spend time with the kids but also have a few afternoons/evenings when they can go out just the two of them, and yes they ARE great parents.

You come off to me as one of those parents that feels like you only need your kids and no friends...a creepy one.

Some of this will depend on how much your nanny wants to go.
If she is a live in and single she may jump on the chance to go somewhere else for a week. I would pay all her expenses plus a regular salary.
If she is live out, married, has kids or other commitments then I think you need to up the ante a little.

Do some nannies charge day rates, like $300 a day? You are technically employing them 24 hours.

Also, I think some families put their nannies in ski school (kinda pricey but a nice thing to do if the nanny is interested). I'm a MB ski student and have noticed this in the nice ski areas like Deer Valley and BeaverCreek. The kids were in ski school too and when their paths crossed they'd be waving as such. Very sweet.

I think you need to pay her her weekly salary - I understand she will not be working her usual 50 hours but its not like she can pick up extra hours while away. Also as its a working holiday for her, its not really a holiday at all. If she would not normally work those weekends you need to pay her something for those as well.

OP here. Of course we would pay for her flight, lodging, and meals - I'm just trying to figure out what to pay her on top of that. The info from 22:46 on travel bonuses is really helpful. Thanks!

Nanny here- I have traveled with three previous families. The longest was for 2 weeks. What all three families did was pay me my full weeks salary (only if I was working my normal hours). If I was going to be working more, they paid me my normal rate times whatever the hours I worked. On top of that, they paid for my plane ticket, own hotel room and all meals. I also got a "travel bonus" once we got home. This varied with each family but depended on how long I was with them for. The family that I went on a cruise with paid me my normal salary (I worked 50 hours over a 5 day cruise which was my normal hours over 5 days) plus paid me $400 on top of that. They also however, paid for my part in the dolphin excursion, souvenirs, etc. The family that I traveled with for two weeks to the west coast was a lot different because I pretty much worked 14-16 hour days for the 12 days we were there. That wasn't normal so they paid me my normal rate of $17/hr plus at the end of the trip, gave me a travel bonus of $600.

It's common to pay a normal salary plus all meals, room and flight. It's NOT necessary to pay a "travel bonus" however, 90% of the nannies that I know, get paid a travel bonus at the end of the vacations they go on with their families.

We're thinking of asking our nanny to join us for a week-long ski trip, but are clueless as to what we should offer to pay. We would want her to take care of our one year old DS for say 6 hours while we skied, and then a few dinners. All in all, she'd probably be working less than her normal 50 hour weeks, but would be traveling and away for two weekends.

What's reasonable to offer?
