Anyone is most welcome to use sloppy language, just not in reference to me. I did once have a parent introduce me to his colleagues as "his nanny". I wasn't I only one who chuckled at his cute error. He instantly corrected himself. After all, HE was just a little too old to be having a nanny.

But yes, some adults do indeed, need their own nanny. For them, even having a FT nanny, doesn't seem to much improve their overall well-being.

Yes, "The nanny" is the worst. I prefer to be called by my name.

I refer to my children's pediatrician as "my pediatrician." This confuses no one and doesn't seem to offend "my pediatrician." Perhaps this has more to do with security in one's own job title than grammar?

"Our nanny" is not a problem. Just like "our daycare provider" or "our school" or "our teacher" would similarly not be a problem. It's a simple way to show a connection. Would you rather they referred to you as "THE nanny"? That seems way worse to me.

Some of us may appreciate simple accuracy, no?

I wouldn't mind my charge or my bosses referring to me as "my nanny" or "our nanny". You sound uptight and like maybe you get offended too easily.

Wow really? People here will complain about anything. My bosses refer to me sometimes as their nanny but I don't find it offensive...I am THEIR NANNY. They hired me. They pay me.
