Once you get your license, you don't have to immediately start driving the kids around. You can just get to work easier and actually earn money.

And how to do you know I'm working towards getting it...but getting my license takes time. Plus a lot of MB don't want a new driver driving there kids around...

I took it because my mom was helping me commute to and from work. Now that im moving i will still need a cab. im just trying to cut costs by posdibly only needing to take one once a week. Also this is the best paying nanny job I can find being a no driving nanny with no license it's very hard to find a position that will pay well without me being able to drive. To me it's worth it.

What? Why did you take this job knowing you would need to cab it both ways? There's no other public transportation? Does the family know you take a cab every day?

Is it worth it? Before I had my car, my friend would pick me up and drop me off 5 days a week and I would give her $60 a week for helping. It was worth it for me as I was making $400 a week and if I had my own car, would be spending more than that on gas, insurance, car note, etc.

How much of an imposition will this be for the family? Is the room that you would sleep in a part of their main living space or completely separate? If they are not close to anything and you don't have transportation would they feel obligated to feed you dinner and breakfast (assuming you don't already eat b-fast with the kids)? Would you plan to just hole up in your bedroom after work or you plan to hang out with the family?

If they already encourage you to spend the night, sure, go ahead and ask.

I agree, though -- why did you take a job that you couldn't get to easily? Did you have a car originally?

The family I nanny for lives in a area that's very hard to get there. And at the moment I'm not driving and don't have my license. I work here part time (three days). I want to propose me staying over one night a week to cut down transportation costs (cab fare). Usually when I babysit on weekends they encourage me to spend the night. What do u guys think???
