Just because someone disagrees with you, they are not, by definition, a troll. If someone thinks that you're entitled, overdramatic, and falsely inflates nanny salaries, they are not a troll.

A troll is a very specific liar who posts unbelievable scenarios that result in much inflighting while they pull back and watch the drama for drama's sake.

If you want a website that requires usernames for whatever reason, have at it.

It didn't take long for some poster(s) or troll(s) to find this new forum so they can continue to post about how nannies are entitled, uneducated, lazy, criminal, have no workable skills, can't make it in the real world, etc.

Isn't the above an opinion not a troll, sock puppet, or inappropriate post? You may not agree with it but it wouldn't be a discussion board of posters were only able to post positive statements about nannies or MBs. It also wouldn't be a discussion board if there was a rule that everyone had to agree with the OP.

One dynamic that plays out on this board as well as the general parenting (though more) here is that some nanny posters are seeking validation of their vent and are relentlessly argumentative with anyone who disagrees with them. This isn't unique to nannies but I've just seen it more with them. The other dynamic is that posters are reacting to other posters. I would assume that people on the nanny board have or have had nannies or are or were nannies. They may be stating that the posters on the thread are X, Y and Z but it doesn't mean that they view all nannies that way, just ones with your perspective.

Just as in the case of the original forums, there is no chance of me reading the vast majority of posts. I skim through the topics looking for ones that are posted in the wrong forums and read the occasional topic. But, I mostly learn of inappropriate posts when they are reported. If you feel that a poster is disrupting a thread, feel free to click on the "report" button and let me know. I may not agree that action is required, but I won't ignore the report either.

I found out about the two posters whom I called out when the original poster reported the thread and asked me to remove it because she no longer wanted to use DCUM for her nanny search. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known about those posts.

Are you one of the people that comes on here and bashes everyone and talks sh** to everyone because you are "anonymous"? That is the problem with this site. Every time I have posted something, there have been a handful of people that sit there and say horrible things and it's ridiculous.

No I understand completely what the PP is saying. I hate signing up for things as well. There will be immature trolls on every website. It's the world wide web and anyone can make a false email to sign up. It isn't going to make the trolling stop (unless they're blocked from the website all together.).. But the popularity will go way if people can't express themselves. Ofcourse some people don't know how to give constructive advice but like I said, this will happen on websites. Learning to ignore the trolls will help you get over it. You don't know them, they don't know you, so why let it bother you?

Agreed. I even tried registering and posting un-anonymously for a while, and I felt that because I was one of only around 3 registered posters on the nanny boards, I stood out and was even MORE susceptible to flames, because I was so easily recognizable when compared to the rest of the posters.

I agree with the PP. Most times I have legitimate questions and would love feedback from other nannies/MBs...but I know that some people are just lurking around to shit on everyone's posts so I never end up posting anything.

Jeff, I see you are calling out posters who respond to ads with less than productive responses. I applaud that, would like to see this site as a viable place to for nannies and parents to connect (although sometimes I wonder if that time has come and gone). My opinion may not be worth much, but I felt the former board on the original site had devolved into silliness between trolling and vitriol between nannies and MBs (pretty much equally represented). My question is this-since you have chosen to create a new place for nanny queries (and thereby creating more space and opportunity for ad revenue), how vigilant are you going to be about policing all posts around here that you feel do not contribute to a better DCUM?
