It doesn't matter that she is working on the weekends for you- treat it just like any other part time hours. If she doesn't drive and you don't need any other help around the house-- I don't think you should pay any more than 12-15 dollars per hour-- especially for one child. I pay 16 for full time for two children in DC.

Didn't you ask her what her rates are?

I think it depends on how much experience she has had working with infants in the past. 10-12, if she doesn't have much experience and then work up from there, depending on how much experience she has. Someone who has only been watching children for a year should not be making $20 an hour.

I think $15 is pretty average/typical for one kid, speaking from a mom's perspective. Especially if it's just 2 days, so it's not like she's a full-time employee. You could offer a little less, but it sounds like she has good experience with kids, even if it's not as a nanny, per se.

Is she working for you all weekend, on top of a full-time daycare job? That sounds exhausting!

Weekends period should be $20 an hr! She doesn't have experience as a nanny, but has experience w/ infants..that's all that matters!

You have two options:
For no legal nanny you pay $12 to $12 .
For legal nanny you have to pay. $18 to $20 .

I found a nanny who will take care of my 4 month old on weekends Sat and Sun from 10am to 6pm. She has never work as a nanny with a family before but during weekdays she is a caregiver at one of the daycare centers looking after infants. She does not drive and all I want her to do is to take care of my 4 month old and does not require her to do any housekeeping work or laundry or cooking. Can someone advice what I should pay her per hour?
