Our AP is extending and we love her, so we're using miles to get her a ticket home. Otherwise it would probably be cash and a few small things.

Our AP, who has been with us 3 months and is the weakest AP we have ever had, is getting less than most of our APs have ever gotten: warm leather gloves that are lined, plus a cute t-shirt from a university where she has a connection. Usually we do the equivalent of one-week's stipend ($200) plus a gift (usually something warm - sweater, cashmere gloves and scarf, etc) plus a photo in a frame decorated by the children. Last year we ADORED our AP and gave her the money plus a sterling silver ornament engraved with our love to her, plus the photo in the frame decorated by the children.

Curious what others are getting for their au pairs. We're getting her a gift card to a store she likes and filling a stocking with little presents and treats.
