We got a gift for the children's librarian at our local library. She has a fantastic story time our kids have gone to for 3 years.

A crazy article from a mommyblogger in Seattle is hardly a good source for "standard" bonuses.

Get over it, nannies. Bonus are not standard. Do a good job and maybe you will earn one. But know that if you get a week's bonus, you're lucky.

WhoTH gives their garbage man a Christmas gift? This article says your garbage men will "love a kid's thank you in the form of a note or picture"

You want to know who gives their nannies a one month bonus? The same people who make their kids write a thank you note to their garbageman and their garbageman happens to "love it."

You asked....

That list is exhaustively long. People would go broke. I give nanny a 1 week bonus each year (1 month - total fiction unless the "range" includes .1% who do 1 month) and preschool teacher small GCs but that list is just crazy long.
Also I fail to understand why people that work for companies rather than being your sole employee should be bonused by the customers rather than their employer. My company's members do not send us cash each year - the company budgets for bonuses. In the case of my nanny, i am her only employer so of course i am the one who needs to give her a bonus.

1-2 weeks is standard. I've never seen a family give a months pay but I'm sure it happens.
