OP here: thanks for all the responses. I don't want to lie and I wouldn't lie about getting it. One of the twins has a heart issue so we have to be careful about outings in the winter with her however, she just got a shot on Friday to protect her.

I guess I'll just tell them that I'm not comfortable getting one and go over the reasons why. If they choose to let me go, that's their choice but I guess we will see what happens.

If the twins are protected with the shot, then why does it really matter if the nanny gets it or not? Can someone please explain to me?

My MB asked me to get it. I ended up sick and missing 2.5 days of work because of the flu shot. Happy that they understood, since it was beyond my control. I think I'm skipping the flu shot next year.

Tell them you're not comfortable getting it and provide them with all the new studies that show how ineffective it is and how getting it 5+ years in a row dramatically increases your risk of alzheimers. It's the flu, not malaria, and the DCs are old enough to get the shot themselves if the parents are so worried.

Whatever you do OP, don't lie.

Explain to them why you don't want to get it.

Although, you say you don't like the side effects. How do you know what side effects there will be for you since you've never gotten it?

I have a doctors note saying I am allergic to it. They cannot let me go or cause any trouble.about it.

Most people that are that concerned about nanny getting a flu shot will want to see proof.

I'm an honest person but I'd lie, too. I mean, you're basically being forced to do something you don't want to do for the sake of your job. That's common in the work force but doing something medical for your job? Not right

If they are concerned enough to ask, it's probably a non negotiable. For us it is - I would let go a nanny who didn't get a flu shot. While we know the shit only lessens the flu and doesn't prevent it - we don't want to risk getting it from someone we spend that much time with and didn't vaccinate

My MB & DB asked me last Friday to get a flu shot. I have never gotten the flu shot and don't want to get it. I don't like some of the side effects and I just grew up in a house that didn't agree with getting all of these different shots. I also know MANY people who have gotten it and still got the flu. I care for twin 1 1/2 year olds so I do get why they would want me to however, I honestly don't agree with having to get one.

What would be the best way to go about discussing this with them? I am well aware that they could choose to let me go for this and if it comes down to that, then that's fine however, I would like to at least let them know that I don't believe in getting one.
