Subject: Do you think this ad is weird? Or raises any red flags?
There are a couple of things that stand out for me. The biggest is that she states that they were/are in the health care field and the partner is or was a nurse then lists that they have first aid. If this were my ad, I would probably list more credentials rather than just first aid which is one of the most basic emergency care certifications. I would assume they would have infant, child, and adult CPR + first aid for the professional rescuer and probably some other beneficial training.
OP, I am not sure why you want opinions about this ad, but if you or your friend are considering using them just make sure to check their references, background, and interview them twice, etc. If you don't have a good feeling about it, then don't call them!

OP didn't say anything about sexuality. She commented on the oddness of the situation described with 40 year olds providing childcare for spare cash after giving up their past medical work. I agree with her that these caregivers sound a bit high maintenance and defensive. They might be lovely and get on swimmingly with the right family, but it could also be a high drama situation. Maybe not red flags but definitely some yellow ones, I'd approach with care.

OP didn't say anything about sexuality. She commented on the oddness of the situation described with 40 year olds providing childcare for spare cash after giving up their past medical work. Not necessarily "abuse weird" but definitely gives off weird vibe. Sounds like the kind of people who go extra lengths to show PDA just to show that it is ok to be gay in public.
You don't have to spell out why you are not putting down your phone number, etc. The situation sounds fine. Personality type seems not ok, gay or straight.

If they're doing nights, they probably want babies who sleep longer stretches, hence the 6 mos +.
Nights/weekends means this is a second job. You would definitely want to check them out, but I don't see any real red flags.

What's wrong with it? I did in home day care for spare cash. It sounds like they don't want newborns, hence 6 months and up. Sounds normal. I'm not a fan of the elementary age so I just babysat 4 and under.

Maybe i'm paranoid, but my spidey senses are tingling a bit with this ad ... A girlfriend from BC sent it to me this morning asking what my opinion was. What do you think?
"Are you in search of a babysitter for nights and occasional evenings. We are a couple who are 40 and 45 years young. I use to work shift work and found it extremely difficult to get childcare. Now I am no longer working in the medical field and have spare time. We prefer children from 6 months of age and up and will take care of your child from Monday to Friday and occasional weekends. I do have many years experience with children and also have 3 children of my own. My partner is a nurse and she has many years of experience with children as well. We have first aid and can provide criminal record check. We are now accepting application for children for the new year 2013. I will be honest and say that I am in a same sex relationship for many years and we are very happy and stable. If this doesn't bother you please contact me and we will go from there. I won't put up my phone number on here because of some people who don't agree with the lifestyle and like to voice their opinions in a negative way. I look forward to hear from you."
Ok, two 40 year olds offering childcare? Why do you prefer children 6 mo.s +? Also, if you were a previous medical professional have you resorted to childcare as a means to make a bit of "spare cash"?
