I do not think she is over reacting. Mistakes happen, but her MB should have taken it seriously enough to remedy the situation immediately. It is a major hardship for some people to wait days longer than expected for their pay.

I would have asked her to call the bank right then. This is not acceptable. If she said no, I would have said I at least need $200 cash for the weekend and I'd be over to get it at X time.

People who live paycheck to paycheck NEED to be paid on time. IT'S ONLY FAIR anyway. Your boss is careless and thoughtless.

I would let MB know that she will need to pay any fees associated with the bounced check. I would also tell her that if it happens again you will be needing your pay in cash.
