Every year, nannies who negotiated contracts offering only federal holidays as paid holidays get into an uproar that they are asked to work on a non-federal holiday, the day after Thanksgiving. They screech about how their MBs are out shopping. Employers point out how the day after Thanksgiving is not a federal holiday and if they wanted it off then they should have negotiated for it or take a PTO day. Nannies accuse parents of not loving their children for making the nanny not get an extra freebie day off beyond the contract. Its highly entertaining.
I'm a nanny working a 24 hour shift from Thanksgiving evening and all day Black Friday. I don't care, I'm glad I can avoid traffic. I knew that I was bound to work some holidays since both parents are in the medical field and have to work crazy hours. I don't care, I do my jobs.
You sound like a negative nelly who just wants an excuse to slam nannies.
