Subject: MB and DB never stick to the promises they make their kids
How do you know exactly what promises are made to the kids? Kids are not necessarily reliable narrators. I think you should probably just address any hurt feelings the kids might have, as you have been, and stress that sometimes people get busy and can't get everything done they might want to on the weekends.

I always offer to do it but they either say no they will do it or "we'll talk about it later" then they never bring it up again. They pay me extra to babysit on the weekends already but they use that time to go out normally.

My charges are 3, 7, 11, and 13. Their parents are constantly promising them things and then not following through. It may be little things but it seems like a lot to the kids. For example, MB promised that she would take 13yo to get her hair cut on Saturday. It's monday and charge was complaining to me about how it never happened. They did the same thing with 7 and 11 yo. Promised them this weekend would be the weekend they could pain their rooms. Once again, it's monday and their rooms are still not painted.
It's not just this weekend that this happens, it's almost every weekend. The kids have come to terms with the fact that NOTHING will get done on week days because of their parents working late so they really look forward to the weekend to get it done. It happens week after week, the parents promise them all these things that will get done on the weekend but it ends up not happening. It feel so bad for the kids. I don't know what to do or say to make it better. I try to tell them that they're parents are trying but they're just busy. It never makes them feel better though. They see on the weekends that their parents do have extra time, they just choose to spend it on their friends or relaxing.
Is there anything I can say or do to make the kids feel better? :/
