18$/hr for 2 kids (toddler and K kid in school a lot of the day.) On the books with all contributions made legally plus 3 weeks paid vacation. Typically 40 hours a week, plus occasional 5-10 hrs of paid OT. nWDC
Does she fully support herself on that or does she have other support?
Yup! She’s been with us for almost 5 years so clearly it’s working on both side.
"Yup" to which question?
Yes she can fully support herself. She even bought a home after 3 years working for us. It’s not like she’s making 10$/hr like many people who work retail or 12$/hr like many of the people who work at daycares.Plus overtime on 18$ an hour is quite lucrative. I know there are a lot of people quoting salaries of 25-30$ an hour for full time nannies but honestly I know many people with nannies and I’ve never seen those type of rates. Not for full time nannies.
I'm with you.$18 is plenty high IME. $25-30 is not the norm in this area - PT or FT.
$25-$35 is definitely norm in our area for two kids on PT basis. We live in suburbs and require a nanny who can drive. I haven't found anyone I'd trust with my kids for less than $25/hr for PT.
Just curious, where are you? We're in Rockville/Gaithersburg area and $25-35, while there are some folks that pay that, is by far not the norm. Plenty of terrific options that I've dealt with for $15/hr on a PT basis. No extra benefits outside of some gas money if we're asking them to drive the kids around a lot.
