I would never hire a nanny who had multiple tattoos. One or two small ones would be fine, but if she had one on her face or her arms and legs were covered with them, that would be just too much. Regarding piercings, a nose ring would be okay, but if her tongue, lip or cheek were pierced I would not even consider her. In the corporate world, there are certain dress/grooming codes that need to be followed. Why should the nanny profession be anything different? If you are to work around young children, one should always maintain a professional and clean appearance. Overkilling on tattoos and facial piercings just shows that you don't value what you do or those you work for. Plain + simple.
lollllllll. you all don't live where i live. around here, everyone has tattoos... no matter where they work! -signed, the west coast
Totally ditto!!! I am the Director of Sales and Marketing for a large business firm on the west coast and am proud to say I have many tattoos which have never been an issue in the corporate world. I am valued for my brain and work value, not the ink on my body! It's really no big deal....
