"All of this" is not only up to parents but to ANY employer.  If you walk into any job interview looking/acting different than the norm,  you will have to overcome that initial perception with stellar qualifications.  Even then, the interviewer might decide it is too risky to hire you.  You will probably be told the standard reasons about other candidates' qualifications having a better fit with the position.
