^^^^ I concur. In fact, after finding a nanny cam you risk your nanny getting a little passive/aggressive which will not end well. Would you really want your child alone in the company of someone who is resentful at her boss?? The answer is a definite no. Just have a camera free home and you will not have to deal with wiretapping laws, uncomfortable employees and a revolving door of nannies. Camera and it’s laws bring too much complication to a job. So simplify everything and go back old school.
We've had 3 babysitters in 4 years. None of them ever complained about our cameras. Keep in mind after the 'getting acquainted' period, reviewing the cameras is rare. If we aren't caring for our child, the last thing we want to do is sit and watch our child on the camera. We aren't actively watching. If you want to pick your nose or look at your phone we aren't going to object or make you EVER feeling uncomfortable. You will forget the cameras are there. We do. We have them on always, we have friends over, family over etc. When we have date night, the last thing we want to do is look at our child with their babysitter. There is no law being broken. We aren't 'wiretapping'. We have visible cameras in our own home. The LAW IS ON OUR SIDE. We would never, ever, post anything on social media or youtube etc. That would be a violation of trust. Keep in mind most parents that have cameras in their home are going to be more mature and realize the impact of posting anything to internet. Our employees have been loyal, we pay them well and don't micromanage them. Our 2 babysitters that we use currently have been working for us for 4 plus years. If you have a family that doesn't treat you with respect, pays poorly, and makes you feel uncomfortable--DON'T WORK FOR THEM. In 2018, I would be more suspicious of a home that doesn't have any visible cameras than one that does.
I'm not suspicious of a family without cameras, but I certainly am more careful. I'm more comfortable with cameras because I know that I will never have what I do with the kids questioned, and there will never be abuse charges. Unfortunately, kids get bruises and bumps while playing, no matter how careful their caregiver is. That's life. But not all parents understand that until they actually see it on film.
It is a myth that being recorded while working as a Nanny will exonerate you if the child you are caring for gets injured, etc. Perhaps something the parents say to their Nannies to brainwash them that the cameras will benefit them! They will not. There are times when you are on outings & your charge may fall down and get a bruise on his or her head. Abuse/neglect needs to be proven vs. unproven.
Exactly.
