Anonymous wrote: OP - I think the majority of the responders are nannies not MB/DB. since this is a combo position, I would be totally PO'd re: her response. Ignore all the posters who are saying these don't fall under a nanny. You don't have a nanny you have both a nanny AND a household manager. So being that you are out of town, the household manager duties still should be done and I would expect it. So many seem to want only the best parts... ie. guaranteed hours yet don't want to work when the family is out of town. So many parents don't want to pay what they should. Hence, you get what you pay for. Simple. OP here. I've mostly refrained from commenting further, as I've already drawn the lessons I need to with this query. But this last post irked me. In fact, it's emblematic of what's wrong with DCUM's nanny forum -- namely, that it's full of lots of bitter nannies with an axe to grind. FWIW, I am positive that I pay FAR above the average salary in this town. But facts don't matter to this poster. Easier to assume I'm underpaying and wrongfully treating my nanny in every way.
I know it's hard, OP, but you have to ignore the bitter nannies on this forum. They post the same complaints and always complain about and ask about money whether it is relevant to the topic or not. While it seems like all the nannies are bitter and lazy, there are some smart, dedicated nannies here. They show their professionalism in their posts. Respond only to them and you will get useful answers to your problem. If you respond to the bad nannies, you'll attract more bitterness and nonsense. It's like bees to honey. GL
