Jeez. Let it go already for crying out loud. Bosses are bosses and employees are employees. I wish my boss were the model of honesty, full disclosure, perfect supervision, etc... He isn't. But it's a good job and I do what I'm paid to do - whether or not I agree w/ every decision that's made at the level above me. If I have contempt for, cannot trust, or do not respect my boss then I probably need to find another job. But it's a job. Get over all the whining already.
You think because you employ a nanny, its okay to lie to her? I'm not sure why you find this discussion so frustrating but feel free to exit the thread. Being a boss doesn't mean you get to run around and do or say whatever you like. If you're asking for something to which you are not entitled, in this case her time, you need to be honest about what you're doing. You as the boss can choose to keep details to yourself, but obviously that won't get you the same level of flexibility. Some MBs realize this, and they play the work card to gain that flexibility even if it isn't true. Its not okay, and best believe it could cost you your employee. Your boss may not care about the loss of one employee if he employs many. You have one employee, so it'd be best not to f*ck with her.
