They have told me on various occasions how much they love me, how great a job I do, and how they'd be lost without me. They're about to find out just how lost

!entitled much??
Dumb too. A bonus is discrentionary not a contractual part of your compensation. The nit wit nanny will need to go looking for another job every year until she finds one that gives her a bonus. I wonder how many years it will take it to figure out that she would make more money focusing on the regular compensation. The irony of the whole DCUM nanny hyping about bonues and yearly raises is that the nannies would make more by focusing on the initial starting salary. Long term nannies hit a ceiling and most nannies do 1-3 year stints. An employer's budget is likely the same over those 3 years but employers who do a bonus or plan yearly raises start their hiring salaries lower to factor this in. If they didn't need to do this they would have the ability to offer a higher starting salary and the nanny would end up making more money over the 1-3 year employment time. The compensation would also be guaranteed as long as the nanny is employed.
