So within a month, while still working 50 hours a week, not taking any interview calls while working, you were able to give the employees the due notice AND start a new great job? My gut tells me that employers that picky, unreasonable and wealthy (a 4 story brownstone?) would have had at least a three week notice clause and that you broke it. And that’s the real reason they didn’t offer a “compromise”- who would be able to trust you if you give short notice like that. Plus where the fridge is located is not relevant, they don’t have to provide you with a convenient location of a fridge.
Not OP, but what??! This response is insane. I am an employer of a wonderful nanny and I view our food as her food. She prefers to bring her own food, but if she wanted to eat ours, we wouldn't care. And we certainly wouldn't care if she needed to put stuff in our fridge. We love our nanny and want her to feel comfortable working in our home. I can't imagine imposing insane restrictions on her like this.
