We have always offered our wifi password to our nannies. There are many things I worry about, but this isn't one of them.
+1. You not giving it to her is just going to make her use her data up - it's not like she wont be using the internet at all the entire time she's there.
+ agree. I don't even have a date plan on my phone.
+1. I have a hotspot that I carry with me in case the kids and I get stuck in major traffic, that way we can look up random silly things. I also use it to pull up maps, event info, etc. If I have to use my hotspot at my employer's house because they're too cheap to give me the wifi password, I'm not going to pay $50 for 5 gb to use with the kids (I use maybe 1 gb for myself while waiting for kids at the school, which is why I pay for it), I'll just get enough for myself, but I will demand that the benefits in my contract, because I would assume that the other benefits that come with the position usually are also not available (fruit and veggies for snacks, meals with kids, etc.). That means that instead of my taking my vacation when the family does, I will take it when I want (2 weeks of my choice, 1 week theirs) and still have guaranteed pay while they are gone, I will be added to *every* membership the family has, so that not only can I take kids, I can use it for myself, and I will make sure that mileage is calculated to the tenth of a mile for every.single.trip, instead of saying x for gas week, regardless of what we do. Common courtesy people. I don't abuse your trust, you don't abuse mine, and everyone is happy. It's not like I sit on the couch every day, but when the kids are playing a game and they don't want me to play with them? Sure, I'll sit down for 5 minutes at the other end of the table, and I'll check my email, look up events coming up at school/library/park, find out what's happening in the neighborhood, etc.
So while you are driving you are going to set up a mobile hotspot and start searching the internet for silly things? Sounds real safe. Good job!
No, the kids are old enough to turn on the hotspot and the laptop...
