There are a lot of mean nannies on this thread. Luckily, most nannies in real life communicate with their MBs so that the occasional work from home day goes smoothly and with mutual respect.
Communication is a 2-way street. I have never had a job that didn't include a WAH parent. Most of them have been great. They have treated me as a professional who is building a relationship and routine with the kids and have asked me for the best way for them to engage with their kids without throwing off the kids. I have also had jobs where WAH days were a nightmare. With some parents, you have to do your job as well as you normally do, in front of a boss who wants to believe she can do it better, who in reality cannot, and you have to keep from making it obvious how much more smoothly things go when you are in charge/how much the kids love you. And before you say I am wierdly competitive, let me say that I just want to do my job, but some moms need me to be bonded to my charge every moment they are away, and then have the charge consistently choose mommy over me every time she's there. Not possible.
