I'm the designer bag nanny... I think it depends on the type of damage. 1. in my case, yes probably, seeing as their child is old enough to know better. And they know their kid is destructive. 2. If the same kid puked on my bag and ruined it, I would not expect a new one, seeing as puke is a (generally) uncontrollable scenario.
Wow. Unbelievable. Was this nine year old a "special needs" child? Did he ever physically attack you?
No, this had never happened before. Pretty much, he had been being dreadful all day and I threatened to call his father. I never had to do that, but MB and DB said if things get too out of hand, a call to dad usually straightens him up. Anyway, I followed through on my threat to call his dad, and he was very rude, belligerent and disrespectful to his father on the phone. His dad had him give the phone to me, and then he told me "Don't take him to ______'s bday party today." I asked if he was sure, and he said yes. I told my charge he was not going to the party. And he then began to throw a fit screaming and throwing things and then he jumped up on me and broke the bag.
Given this additional info, I think the parents should contribute towards the repair or replacement of the purse.
