Nannies have to make sure they get their hours guaranteed, sick leave in place(about 7 days), 10 days of PTO and their annual raise. You have to put up with employers and sick kids so employer have to treat their caregivers right.
OP does not want to use her leave for doctor's appointments which is 1/2 the problem.
This should not be a problem if she gets sick leave when she’s indeed sick, but all she’s asking for is to get paid when she seeks medical which is about 2 hours. I’ve read the family got the nanny sick not once but twice AND she only gets about 32 hours of sick leave, I mean REALLY?! And why would the family make her work when they’re all sick and she gets penalized for going to the doctors? That’s unfair. The moral of the story is that there some CHEAP employers that can spend about $200 weekly in lunches/dinners/take-outs but unwilling to pay their Nanny 2 hours for a medical need. The nanny watches and cares for their treasure child so they should really appreciate her time and make sure she’s well next time they get ‘sick’again. This is not about money, it’s the principle!!
