Will you be paying extra for this extra service? Or are you just doing job creep with no pay?
Stop, please. This is not “job creep”. This is the ever changing life of a nanny who encourages growth and learning in the charges. It’s like thinking you deserve more money when the child starts walking or drops a nap. It’s not a service to teach your charges. -signed, a nanny
Of course it is job creep as no nanny is hired to teach school. Children go to pre schools, elementary school are taught by qualified and licensed teachers. This is not an ever evevolving part of her job.
? I am a nanny and was hired precisely to teach and care for my charges. You must be confusing nanny with babysitter, PP. All nannies are teachers.
You were not hired to teach school. If you had been hired for this then they would not be enrolled in public or private school. Even if you have a degree you are not knowledgeable in all subjects taught in school curriculum--, mathematics (algebra, trig, geometry, etc.); History (World or American); English both grammar and literature and other subjects. Taking a walk is not the same as physical education! This is why teachers have specific subjects they are hired to teach. You do not have to be licensed by the state to be a nanny whereas a teacher does have to be licensed. Teaching a child how to make a turkey by tracing their fingers does not constitute teaching!
You’re wrong. I was absolutely hired to teach my charges from birth. I have a MA in Early Childhood Development and was a teacher for many years. My experience aside, all good nannies are teachers. When a Spanish speaking nanny talks to her charges in Spanish, what is she doing? Teaching. When a good nanny points out letters and words while reading, what is she doing? Teaching. When a nanny counts or sings the alphabet song, what is she doing? Teaching. When a nanny narrates for and sings to a newborn, what is she doing? Teaching. I could go on and on. Doing preschool art and letter tracing with OP’s children is absolutely teaching and part of a good nanny’s job. Babysitters watch children. Nannies teach children.
The Board of Education needs a good laugh so forward this nonsense to them. My he
