Why on earth do children this age need a nanny?  If they need to be driven/picked up then use Uber.[/quote]

Teen isn’t mature enough to babysit 
One or more has special needs
Teen has a job or internship
Teen has a life of their own (and activities)
8 to 10 hours is too long for a nine-year-old to be left possibly on their own
15 is not old enough to legally be able to sign paperwork and authorize treatment at the ER
Some parents are not reachable at all (At least some of the time) during work hours
Kids don’t get along and the dynamic does not work for babysitting
Parents don’t want to turn a teenager into an indentured servant
15 isn’t old enough to be driving on their own
Parent doesn’t want a nine-year-old in an Uber by themself
Uber is not available in all areas
Bus and metro are not available in all areas
One or more need special help with tutoring or life skills
Parent feels better having a responsible adult available even if they aren’t doing the same level of care that they would do if the kids were infants and toddlers

I’m a nanny for toddler through teen.  I’ve been hired for elementary through high school age students for all of the above reasons.  I’m sure there are more reasons a parent might have.[/quote]
