You screwed her. Most hourly employees live paycheck-to-paycheck and, unless you are an idiot, you know this. Stop with the crap of paying a week behind.
Most hourly employees are paid by payroll. Only cash workers are usually paid the same week. I’m a nanny, and I prefer payroll. I’ve been paid weekly, biweekly and monthly. In all cases, you get paid one statement later, and your last payroll deposit is one statement period after work is discontinued.
We use a payroll service and I get paid in real time.
Which payroll service? I think most nannies and employers would prefer to switch, so please name it :)
DP- My MB uses SurePayroll and I’m paid on Friday for the week worked. Zero problems.
SurePayroll doesn't offer real-time payment. They do have same-day direct deposit (which comes at a cost, and which most payroll services offer for a fee), but you still have to enter the hours in the morning for payment that afternoon. So while it's great that your employers is paying you on Friday for the week that just ended, they are most likely running payroll several days earlier and assuming you will work as planned that week. For those who have to fill out a timesheet at the end of the work week to determine the amount of the check, this isn't an option.
+1 we use homepay they offer an advanced DD option where it would end up that the employee is paid in real time, but you still need to enter the time by Tuesday. So if they call out or something changes later in the week it’s a huge pain plus a charge to reverse. We did not even offer this as an option to our nanny.
