I am a nanny and this is not at all hypocritical.  An employer can demand you do any number of things that he/she doesn't do.  I think nannies would do themselves a huge service if they would understand that simple point as it is applicable in ALL fields.

A nanny and a grown-up.  This is simply life in the working world.  Your boss/owner of the company gets to do lots of things the employee doesn't get to do.  Not the least bit hypocritical - simply the way of the world.  [/quote]

While I agree, I am thankful I can up and quit any job I am unhappy at. I work with newborns and infants but I will not work with a family that won’t let me leave the house. Babies need interaction and so do adults. Hence baby lap time is filled with nannies and mothers of newborns and infants. [/quote]
